If you find yourself at the seaside in the rain, this indoor and outdoor adventure play experience at Hornsea Freeport could help the kids burn off some energy.
The indoor soft play area known as ‘The Caves’ has been refurbished. And if the weathers good, it also has an outdoor adventure playground featuring a zip wire, bouncing pillow, giant sand pit and an electric car racing track.
Offer: 10% off garden and hall admission
Burton Agnes Hall and Gardens is a great family day out. Children will enjoy looking for giant caterpillars, squirrels, spiders and other creepy crawlies on the mile-long woodland walk.
There is a maze for kids to let off steam and giant garden games for the whole family to enjoy.
Children’s guidebooks are available from the visitor desk. Toddler ‘hip seats’ are available from the visitor desk to help you carry young children, and under 5’s have free entry.
Offer: 25% off standard admission
One of the best family days out in East Yorkshire. We visited Sewerby Hall at Easter and were really impressed with how child-friendly and welcoming it was. Big Bear and I did an Easter Egg hunt in the hall and he loved the nursery where there were lots of wooden toys for children to play with. There were lots of activities to keep children entertained in the house and the staff were really friendly and informative.
The attraction has animals and an outdoor play area. There were outdoor pirate treasure hunts and giant garden games on the day we went too.
It’s a great place for a picnic, with fantastic views from the cliffs, and for added adventure you can get the land train to the hall from the north promenade.
High season holiday prices are £8 for an adult and £5.90 for children age 3-15. Families with a Max card get a 25 per cent discount on the admission price.
Offer: Free admission
Skidby Mill is a working four-sailed tower windmill, set in over an acre of land with magnificent views over the Wolds. The mill is unusual in still having all its original outbuildings around the courtyard. Some of these have been converted to form the Museum of East Riding Rural Life.
The mill is run by the mill staff seven days a week. The mill is usually operational from Wednesday to Sunday (wind permitting!) when the miller is in. It produces wholemeal flour from a blend of four different types of wheat. The flour is available to buy in the mill shop along with souvenirs, children’s toys, books and other items.
